Mrev Issues
Mrev Issues
Hey,
I would like to add a little grunt to my G Coupe. I have a z tube now, and I am looking at the Mrev thermal plenum spacer. However ive heard about reliability issues with the mod. One of the guys at stillen also mentioned this to me, and told me if stillen doesnt offer it, it probably isnt good for the car. Let me know some of the feedback. Plus do you have to reset the ECU as well?

WTF??? Who at Stillen said that??? Also what reliability issues have you heard of?
MotorDyne products are probably the only indisputable mods around... I honestly can’t think of a legitimate negative report on their products... I've had the 1/2" spacer and Iso Thermal kit for... damn a long time, can’t even remember how long - and have had ZERO problems (hope I didn’t just jinx it).
Anyway, I think you've been misinformed.
BTW - Stillen doesn't do ECU reset... did they tell you that's no good too?...

I am calling bull....Motordyne not only makes some of the best products but they are very knowlegable and stand behind their products 110%
Stillen will tell you anything to boost their reputation as they offer a 3 year engine warranty when you use their supercharger but if you check this forum they have blown motors just like anyone else and I have yet to see them replace any.
MREV all the way baby!!!

I have the MREV2 and 5/16 iso thermal spacer and no problems at all. Car runs good and without any reliability issues. Had it on the car for over a year.
Just buy it. And you SHOULD reset the ecu after putting it on.

there's no way the MREV2 can fail that I can see. and the only issue with the spacer is leaks and overtorqueing the bolts. both of which can be avoided. there are gaskets already applied to the spacer on both sides, and you can resuse the stock one. unless you torque the bolts with the wrong spec you'll be ok, just go slow. I recently installed the Z-tube, MREV2, and 5/16" spacer with all the resets. the car definitely feels more alive.
Stillens knowledge about MotorDyne......Zero!
This all sounds like some telephone sales person talking out their a$$. I've
never heard of anyone having issues with MotorDynes products if properly
installed! Generally it's someone that doesn't have a torque wrench or one
of our members breaking off a bolt and saying "Now what do I do?" Call Tony
at MotorDyne and ask him about reliability 661-993-5111. He'll more than
happy to answer all your questions.....he's one of the "good guys!"

stillen sucks!!
Back when i had my exhaust installed Stillen offered to do a reflash on my ecu for about 200 bucks. I agreed and told them to do it. Well i got my car back and they said everything was done. I really didn't feel much difference but i figured i shouldn't feel the difference. I didn't think much of it until i did a dyno run at a car show and the guys there said they heard pinging from my engine and i might be running lean. So i take my car to technosquare and get a reflash. Well the guy brings me to his computer and shows me the ecu mapping on the computer and its completely stock!!! Stillen didn't do a damn thing to my ecu but put their stickers all over it!!! Stillen sucks and i will never buy anything from them again!!!
Ah. Finally someone sees the light. I'm sorry that it took $200 to realize this though.

Yeah, they reflash your wallet, they adjust your $/Wallet ratio to -$20 : 1.
