you don't have to oil it when you first get it, its already oiled, and when it gets dirty you can just use a K&N oil recharge kit the instructions are on the box, comes with a cleaner to take all the dirt and oil of the filter and then a oil spray can so you can respray the oil, just don't over due on the oil and let it dry before you install it again. they sell the recharge kit at most auto stores, the oil on the pop charger is blue in color but the K&N is Red so don't get scared when your filter turns red when you oil it again.
good luck, and enjoy the pop charger.

you should CLEAN it when it looks dirty..
when you clean it make sure you try your best to chean it inside out so the dirt flows OUT not to the inside of the filter... clean it whenever it looks dirty..
when you oil it put on a FINE coat of oil using the spray bottle.. not too much but just a fine coat.. the oil is just there to catch the dirt.. too much and your car sucks it up.. I clean my air filter about every 3k

As the others have mentioned, the Popcharger cone shaped filtering element is pre-oiled from the factory. I have a spare filter on standby. I clean my filter every 3-5k. I remove the working one and replace it with the standby unit. This way, I am in no hurry to wash, dry and properly oil the dirty filter. I clean, dry and oil the dirty unit when I have the time. I did the same with my K&N and Amsoil drop-in filters, as well. It affords a great convenience to have an extra filter handy.
