350z mid is shorter than the g...so you might have to add 5 or 6 inches to make it fit... go with the coupe mid

The 05 sedan pipe has a smaller resonator and is lighter than the 04.

The 05-06 midpipe resonator is about ~50% smaller than the 03/04 resonator. It's significantly lighter, but not as light as the coupe midpipe. Keep in mind that the 05-06 sedans have larger mufflers therefore a stock 05-06 sedan sounds nothing like an 03/04 with a 05/06 midpipe. My setup is measureably louder than a 05/06 sedan.

Well, there you have it. If you haven't already switched to the coupe mid then go for the 05/06 mid.

Or just get a full exhaust like a borla or stillen and get more sound and some power.

Budget is the mindset here...BUDGET! And I am also looking to keep my ride as much OEM as I can. Nissan parts only!

Probably because coupe midpipes are a dime a dozen. I've had the following and in this order:

1) Borla TD - way too loud, way too much NVH increase, no real power gain

2) Coupe midpipe - a bit too much drone, just didn't sound quite right, added some additional NVH (probably because it's only designed with one exhaust hanger, not two like the sedans use. Required bending of the driveshaft heat shields.

3) 06 sedan midpipe - perfect sound, perfect fit, and about 20lbs lighter. The sound is pure, healthy, and not annoying at all.

I have had BOTH choices as I currently have the 06 sedan midpipe on my 03. The coupe midpipe did not sound right on the sedan. The drone at low rpms is very annoying and the WOT sound is not much different from the 06 midpipe, if at all. I still have the coupe midpipe in my garage but I am never putting it back on. I was lucky enough to a find the 06 midpipe for only 100 bucks along with the Y pipe. Same for the coupe midpipe. In a two weeks period I had both to try on. Now I have 2 extra Y pipes sitting in my garage, a coupe midpipe, and my stock midpipe. I drove with the coupe pipe for a month. I have had the 06 pipe for two months since then and it's definetely nicer sounding in every possible way. Just a nice balanced sound with enough loudness to draw attention.

It's far better, just like he said. IMO, it's louder than the coupe middy, but doesn't drone like coupe middy. The sedan middy is one of my favorite mods because it really gives the G some personality without being in your face like a droning loud exhaust like the Stillen or Borla. BTW, I had the Borla for a short time. You can find videos of my sedan midpipe on this website. And for those wondering, putting an 05/06 sedan middy on an 03/04 sedan will be much louder than a stock 05/06 sedan. Why? Because the 05/06 sedan muffler is larger than the 03/04 muffler.

What an awesome combination with the 06 air box... 07 HR Y-Pipe.. and the 06 mid-pipe to bring out that DEEP GROWL on startup, when you first turn the engine over.. and just a nice fat, resonant tone that this VQ design has always been known for... granted.. the sedan design will NEVER sound like a coupe, FX or Z-car... but we also don't have a 10 gallon oil drum for a muffler either to produce that classic resonant bass sound they have... it's like having an exhaust SUBWOOFER installed in the back of the car

Anyways... it is VQ heaven right now in my household baby!!

I'll be diggin' this compilation of mods for awhile... that is until we get some post installation feedback from you on the 08 Z headers and cats mod you have in the wings!!

Right on! We both have the same setups and I couldn't be happier. The car sounds so healthy and SO much louder than the nuetered 03/04 sedan sound. It's such a fluid and sporty sound. It doesn't have the bellow of the coupe/z, but it's easily as loud. When it gets warmer out, the sound gets louder. The best part is no drone, no rasp.
