Thx for the compliments guys.

I kno the issue of intakes with our cars is a highly contested topic, but I do feel an improvement in throttle response--there's a nice lil whistle when you rev. Don't know if heatsoak will be an issue, but I like the design, and its colder more often here in Chi than it is warm usually

I metal heat shield seems to be a counter-productive because it will absorb the heat and trasfer it to the filter, at least more so than the OEM plastic box.

I think everyone on this board by now knows that you are in love with the stock airbox. I rocked it for 2 years, and just now wanted a change. Would plastic be a better choice of heat shielding? Of course, but then it wouldn't be an arc piece, and there are other factors to take into accounnt besides the potential for heatsoak.

One thing I noticed about the stock airbox is that while it has a good seal and keeps heat out, the size of the airbox is so small, and imo, a proper cone design funnel filter will breath in a lot more air than the stock box. Sure, it might be more prone to heatsoak, but I don't think there is an intake out there that is perfect, including stock setup. My .02

It's pricey, but mynismo/perf.nissan can likely give you a better price than retail.

Check "Pi-Thon" for the hose clamps.

I'm not in love with the stock airbox, but I'm of the belief that if it's not broke, don't fix it. There are just too many downsides to open intakes if you're really concerned about performance and driveability.

Volume wise, the stock airbox can flow way more than an NA VQ35 could hope to ingest. Q45tech on this site did a pretty elaborate calculation on this very thing.

I can respect wanting to do things strictly to be different and unique, though.
