HOLY FVCK! HFC help

hey guys so im changing out my cats with FI 300 cell HFC's

i got the passenger side one on fine, the the DAMN drivers side one is a
B!TCH, how did you guys get the top nut off where it bolts the the header, did you have to take apart part of the rack and pinnion, cause thats what preventing me from getting it off, cause its right there in the way, deep socket is to long and regular socket is to short PITA ahhhh

When we installed my cats, we removed the intake and heat shields for the headers for more room. Then with three 10" extentions and some patience, we were able to loosen up those bolts.

well the problem is not being able to reach it, i can get to it fine from under the car just the sockets wont fit, either too short or long, cause the the rack and pinnion, even went and bought a 14mm wrench, the one thats like a socket but not lol damn i donno its so frustrating

Have you tried using a swivle...

no, maybe ill try that, i need like a socket thats smaller than a deep socket and longer than a regular one lol, man maybe ill just take it to a shop, ill prob try again today tough

I used WD40 & air tools. Soaked it and let it sit for 15 minutes to penetrate. Just a zap and it came right off and my car had 75k miles on it at the time.

like moog i used air tools. didnt even need WD40. i also accessed 2 of the bolts from the engine bay

get a long metal rod and put your socket wrench in it. That'll give you more torque to twist off the nut easier.

yeah i might have to try from the engine bay



Yume, its not the leverage that i need its just being able to get the socket on the bolt

Yes, I've used WD40 while removing many exhausts.... sooooo much easier. It's a must for rusty bolts and exhaust hangers.
