Thinking of putting on AEM intake. Any good? If not what is better? Is it worth doing the intake without doing the exhaust? When doing the exhaust where do you make the cut and are headers going to do anything?

*sigh* search my friend.

Intakes don't do much for our cars alone except whistle. If I were to go intake, I'd go z-tube/stillen airbox though others go different routes. I dont know about cuts with the exhaust system unless your going custom (welding?). Mine came pre-welded. It was just bolt on and go. And headers will give you nice gains. I recommend DC headers. What year, make & trans?

yes it is very much worth it!

Adding a Z_Tube mod will give 7HP to the rear wheels.

Actually no... Thats what we found years ago... And remains true today... Removing the tube with the resonator and it will give it to you...

Adding the filter like a pop charger or stillen air box will add another 3-5 RWHP...

The only difference between the 280 HP G35 / 287 HP 350Z was the intake tube... Putting the Z Tube on the G made more HP on the G...

put on a z-tube, throw in a k&n filter, and remove the "power duct" from the stock air box and call it a day.

Thanks everyone! I have heard to stay away from K&N or any other filter system requiring oil on the filter. What is a Z tube? Also my car is a 2006 Pearl G35 6MT with all options exept Navi. Sweet car and after getting under for a look I am empressed with the stock exhaust . When I said cuts I ment at what point do you replace from? The original question was is it really worth doing the air filter without doing exhaust? Don't want to waist my money for little gain. Just want to do what makes the biggest gain for the least$$$ Thanks Al

Z tube is the intake tube off a 350z... hence the "Z-TUBE"

Thats what we called it years ago when we first started it... (well, when I was at my other NISSAN dealer...)

Now the Z tube is $100 since the cost has gone up...

I recommend doing the STILLEN Z-Tube which will be about $68 Shipped to your door...

Doing that alone with the stock air box will give you some more HP!

The exhausts are different as well, you can't attribute it all to the intake. That isn't RWHP either, its at the crank

Sorry Jason, but the Z-Tube will not add "7 HP to the rear wheels" on the VQ. Sure it'll sound nicer along with an intake setup, but thats it. Dyno's have shown that the the G/Z difference in power was probably just Nissan's marketing. The non rev-up from the G & Z produce the exact same power, and the same goes for the rev-up on the G/Z.

It REALLY quites down the intake noise. Pop it off, take it for a spin and you'll really notice the difference (in terms of sound) above 4k RPM
