stillen intake

I just received my stillen short ram intake. It looks great. It comes with the polyurethane heat shield. I will attempt to post pics asap. I'm soooo excited.

Ryan

P.S. I should also have my greddy evo exhaust by this friday. I will also attempt to post some pics.

Re: stillen intake

Any chance you can hit the dyno after the mods? I'd love to see the improvement. Also, are you going to do the install yourself or have a shop do it? If you DIY, can you provide install instructions?

Thanks for being a pioneer in the budding aftermarket!!

Re: stillen intake

I just finished installing my stillen intake. It was a pain as I did not have a drill... The heatshield does not come with the holes drilled. It's pre-marked; however, you would need to actually drill the holes yourself. (e.g. 2 top holes for stock cover, 4 holes for map meter bolts, 1 hole for mounting heatshield to the body) I didn't get a chance to test my intake...but I drove it around the block. I couldn't help it...hehehe. My impression was...wow...it feels faster...at least it sounds faster...lol. Overall, I think stillen did a great job. The heatshield covers the filter pretty well so your engine won't suck in hot air. I don't know if I'll dyno my car but I will definitely post some pics tomorrow. Install should take around 30-45 mins with the correct tools.

Re: stillen intake

My friend took some pics of my intake and my greddy evo exhaust. (I just received the exhaust today) I will attempt to post some pics as soon as I get it from my friend. Meanwhile...my further impression with the intake and my new greddy evo.

Stillen intake: Overall, it's a great piece. The noise level is not much different from stock; however, upon full throttle...you can definitely hear the growl...I know there's few people out there concerned about the noise level...well...you shouldn't have to worry. Also, I think the polyurethane heatshield does a great job blocking the hot air. Stillen intake utilizes factory's cold air design with open air filter in stock air box location.

Greddy evo: It's hard to tell of any power gains but it's definitely lighter than the stock exhaust system...I say about 20-30 lbs. You can definitely hear the exhaust note. It's much more aggressive than the stock exhaust. It sounds very deep...yet not instrusive. I was worried the fact that the exhaust would look ricey on my car, but it does not look bad at all. I was really hoping to get the nismo weldina exhaust but I couldn't justify $1000+. I know greddy is very reputable when it comes to their exhaust system. By the way, I highly doubt that the nismo exhaust will yield 5-10 horsepower over greddy. Therefore, I think it's a great buy.

My friend took the pic when it was already getting dark, but I will attempt to post more pics with a set of eibach's installed.

Re: stillen intake

I question that enormous heatshield. It seems like the heatshield is much more restrictive than anything. But it does LOOK like it connects to the front baffel. In which case its not really gaining any airflow just much better filtration.

I would like to see some dyno numbers, because I am skeptical about that design concept. I am sure there is a huge change in sound though. Probably sound like a mini turbo with the air sound sucking in. Im sure there is some power gain, but i dont think it will compare too a standalone cold air.

If you get out to a dyno try a run for me, just using the conefilter and removing the heatshield connectiong all the stuff.

Marcel

Re: stillen intake

Now that the work is all done do you plan on having your car dyno'd to see what you really gained? Alot of us would like to see the numbers
