Resonated Test Pipes

They do smell, some people love the smell, and some don't. I don't mind it.

They made my Fast Intentions exhaust sound much louder & more exotic. But it's not obnoxiously loud... its perfect.

I think it'll depend on what exhaust you get to complement it. As for me, the F.I Resonated Test Pipes complemented the F.I Exhaust perfectly. If I would have had any other exhaust system, I probably would have opted for HFC.

You get a little more from test pipes (sound, performance), but you also lose a little from conveniance on a daily driven car (louder, smell).

As for rasp, if you get resonated test pipes, it will all depend on the exhaust itself. My combination has very little rasp at WOT, and no rasp what so ever at during regular driving.

Also, if you're in California, removing the cats is highly illegal. I'm running a risk ($1,000+ fine) if I get caught...but ill take that small risk.

My test pipes weigh ALOT LESS than the heavy OEM cats. As a matter of fact, I could literally hold the test pipes with just my pinky (1 finger). With the OEM cats, you'd end up breaking that finger

If I remember correctly, after weighing both the test pipes & OEM cats, I saved over 22 lbs in weight (both)

I'm guessing HFC would be in between the weight of the OEM cats & Test pipes.

I have heard alot of great things about the Berk HFC. If money were an issue, then I would definately choose the Berk HFC if I weren't using test pipes. But if money isn't an issue, then I would probably still opt for the Fast Intentions.

F.I, Crawford, & Berk make great HFC's.

HFC vs Testpipes.......!

Since there's not a company on the planet that makes HFC that carry the
CARB sticker required in my state I'm afraid I'll stick with the OEM cats....

I wouldn't even worry about it with HFC. I myself, in the other hand, have no cats what so ever. Even so, I still don't stress it.

I don't know the numbers, but there was a HUGE difference between the OEM and kinetix cats. It was VERY pronounced.

Test Pipes do weight less and have a great sound, but i get paranoid when i drive around in Large citys with then, like SF and such. or when a cop is Right on my *** following me for which it seems like its hours but ya.

and doesnt HFC combs sooner or later break apart? my buddy's Crawford HFC were crap, combs all broke and what not

maybe it was just the Crawford ones , i know the FI HFC are nice, if i had the money i'd take the MINES HFC haha

I'm in FL and have TP, they are freaking loud but I love them. The car also seems to pull better at higher rpm IMO.

I wanna get test pipes, but I don't think I wanna deal with the smell. Anybody have test pipes with stock exhaust?

Yo skater how would you rank the rasp on the exhaust w/ TPs (1-10)? From a standstill rev and WOT under load?

First, let me just make it clear that it will really depend on which exhaust you get. The Fast Intentions Resonated test pipes have an 8 inch resonater, and the quality is top notch. But it will depend on your exhaust too.

With 1 being almost completely rasp-free and 10 being very raspy:

Daily Driving: 0
Standstill Rev: 1
WOT (100% Throttle): 2

Like I said before, it's going to depend on which exhaust you have. If you have the stock exhaust, HKS, Stillen, you're most likely going to get more rasp than I do (these exhausts have a higher pitch and aren't as deep as the F.I). The F.I Resonated Test Pipes are a perfect match for the F.I Exhaust (obviously).

PS. These resonated test pipes are top notch!

that's a small risk? Anyway im in the market for exhaust setup. I love the F.I. Exhaust. I probably end up getting that and test pipes. Isnt HFC illegal anyways, if it is not CARB approved. If both is illegal then might as well go with test pipes. Cheaper, lighter, more power, more sound. Can't go wrong. Only thing im not fond of is the smell. Is it really noticeable? and what kind of smell is it? Gas Fumes? Exhaust? Both?

Haha yeah. Well, there's a small chance of getting caught. But if you do, they lay the hammer on you [in California]

People that have no cats & drive more appropriately probably have a much smaller chance of getting pulled over than someone who's going WOT all the time. Don't give them reasons to pull you over and you should be fine

As far as the smell... its a mixed smell of unburnt gas fumes & your typical exhaust fumes (x2). It's only noticeable at start up/stops when you have your windows down. But its not bad, atleast not for me.
