test pipes questions

Hope this isn't too rookie of a question. What are the test pipes and what is there advantage ? I have a pop charger and z-tube and was thinking about test pipes. I'd like some informed opinions as to thier advantages/disadvantages or legality. Thanks in advance to all who respond.

Re: test pipes questions

Test pipes replace all 4 cats on the car. Meaning better exhaust flow but in almost all states they are illegal and the sound they produce can be harsh. Kinetix racing makes one that has a in line resonator that should help keep the sound down.

Re: test pipes questions

Thanks. Any substantial increase in HP or just mainly a little with more noise ? I'd like to keep my exhaust note similar to what it is.

Re: test pipes questions

about 10hp increase. Your sound will sound a little louder then stock, idle sound will remain the same. I got a set for sale, pm me for details.
