Intake Noob ...

So I'm thinking about installing an intake,

read alot of people having a Ztube + K&N filter, Injen CAI, fujita f5, etc

Don't really know which to choose though ...

How much can it cost just the parts?

200-300?

Stick with short ram unless you need the space up above... it shoudln't cost more than $250. Z-tube plus filter shouldn't even cost anywhere close to $200...

get the z tube from the classifieds sections for about 40-50, and the K&N drop in filter is about $40

Honestly dude.. Just get a coupler and a K&N cone air filter and attach it to your throttle body.. No tubes, no nothing. After the install, watch your G fly to the moon.

Almost everyone says stillen, but people also say gains are very minimal

Gains are minimal with any intake, it doesnt do much for our cars. But it helps a little!

No one with any common sense has ever claimed anything more than a better
sound with any aftermarket intake system. Where this intake becomes a
value is after you've installed MotorDynes spacer and installed a high flow
cat-back exhaust. These all work together to create real seat of the pants
HP! I have the Stillen CAI/Z-Tube, it's not pretty but it is functional without
concerns about heat shrink/moisture!

IMHO intakes are just for noise. And IMHO most are designed worse than oem. The only one considering is the Stillen and there's no way I'd pay new pricing for one.

If you can get a Stillen and Z tube used, fine, go for it. If not, forget it until you see a deal.

I ran stock, stock with K&N panel and the Stillen. I haven't noticed much diff inbetween any of them. But I got the Stillen/Z tube for such a great price, I went for it.

^ as mentioned above, start with a Z-tube and aftermarket drop in filter that can be cleaned and oiled. You can get both for about $120 shipped if you do a search. The Stillen CAI, heat shield and filter will run you $199 and another $60 for a Z-tube. Look for members selling their used tubes as there is no wear factor on a hollow plastic tube. Likewise with the Stillen CAI if that's the route you go. Very little gains with a CAI alone......looks and sound.
