Loud intake

Ok well i have the JWT pop charger and Z-tube. I noticed when i first get in my car to drive it when the engine is cold, the intake has a very deep distictive sound. i mean u hit 4k rpm and the car just sounds pissed off. As the car heats up the intake tone quiets down a little bit, what is the reasoning for this? I want it to sound like a pissed of tiger all the time haha. im assuming is has something to do with the engine temp. thanks guys!

The air is denser when its cooler. The colder denser air makes the intake, engine and exhaust louder.

i know that air is dense when its colder, but the temperature outside doesnt change when the car is cold or warm...or is it the temp in the engine bay thats making the difference in intake sound?

When the engine is hot so is the air coming in through the intake. Even if you have a cold air intake with the filter outside the engine bay, the piping is still warm if the engine is and therefore makes the air warmer. Its both the outside temp and engine bay temp that effect it because both effect the density of the air.

Not sure about you guys, but my exhaust is definitely more mellow on cold/first starts. It takes several minutes of driving around until the "G35 exhaust note" actually exists, which bums me out.

exhuast note i can understand, as the pipes get warmer they expand, and the cats heat up etc. ill have to CO2 spray my whole engine bay 24/7 i guess to get that sexy *** sound haha

hey i was looking to get a JWT pop charger, do you really notice the sound difference compared to stock and is the z-tube needed with the pop charger or can i just get a pop charger by itself

^ +1. The stock g-tubes are restrictive and the z-tube provide a more direct air flow. Get the z-tube and pop charger together.

I think it's due to the variable intake...When cold, the ECU uses different maps, and your AFR is different than when fully warmed up.

i have a injen cai an i love it when it whistles. but it's so pain to take it out and clean it. so i'm planning to switch to pop charger. i can use my injen as a short ram, Does anyone know if I can use that instead of Z tube with JWT heatshield?
