I am about ready to buy some High flow cats or no cats? Seems Crawfords are the favorite because they do not have a "rasp" sound to them like the RT. What about everyone else that has USED BOTH or even different ones? What about the Helix pipes? No cats with this...

I ordered the Helix test pipes from the Ebay vendor you have above - I should be getting them in the beginning to end of next week - as soon as I have them installed, I'll be sure to post my impressions.... I talked with another coupe owner who said that after he installed them (with stock exhaust) he thought it made his G sound like a Ferrari - for $180 shipped, that's enough for me to give it a shot....

 

Please tell us how it turns out I maybe interested in purchasing as well.

I recommend attending a local meet and hearing the different cats in person. Some people talk about "rasp" and that word has negative connotations. I have had about a dozen people hear the plenum, RT cats, and intake combo. All of them said it sounded MUCH BETTER THAN STOCK. Not one of them mentioned the "rasp", which I think is hardly noticeable unless you're reving your engine in Neutral. (FYI, I did a drive by at our last meet to get others opinions.)

If you don't hear the cats for yourself, you are going to get conflicting opinions, none of which will be YOUR opinion.

There's definitely a raspy/resonant sound for me around 3.5-4K rpms that I can't seem to solve. Somedays it's not as noticeable but others it can drive me crazy.

I have the same combo on my G, with out the cats. I do plan on adding them soon and I was wondering if the car might need some tuning after all the changes (due to running too lean). Have you had any problems or heard any body else's opinion on this?

the helix pipes have monster rasp....

id buy a set of crawford hi-flow ctas tomorrow, if they didnt display a similar 'rasp' (not growl, but awful buzz/scream)

Why don't you go to the SE Forum and come to next Saturday's (May 22nd) Dyno Day in Orlando, (check the thread, "TMS dyno day in Central Florida is on!"). There is a caravan of guys coming over from Tampa with FI galore. You can hear my RT Cats and other mods and then decide for yourself if YOU hear any rasp.

My R/T cats are comming off next week, I can't take it anymore. (raspy) I'll probably sell them CHEAP! They only have about 2k miles on them.
