Smoke after Resonated Test Pipe Install
Smoke after Resonated Test Pipe Install
So I installed my test pipes today, and afterwards they didn't smoke at all, now about 7 hours later, they start smoking like something bad (that smokes a lot) anyways is this like a break in period or are the gaskets seating or what. These pipes are used and i only used one new set of gaskets and didn't put any gasket sealer on there...didn't think i needed any....if anyone can let me know why my car is smoking please let me know....
Thanks

usually it smokes alot when you get new test pipes, i dont know about used one, then again it can be a break in period, give it more time if anything, see if the smokes go away. After I install my test pipes a crapload of smoke was coming out of my exhaust.
I didn't notice any smoke prior to the test pipes being installed. However, the smoke has drastically decreased (either that or since its daytime i cant see it) hmmm, i guess im just going to leave them on for a few days and see what happens

The smoke may be comming from the new pipes. In this case it will take a little time for the grease in them to vaporize and clean out.
But then again, if you have piston rings leaking oil into the cylinders, that can also be a source of the smoke you notice.
The stock catalytic converters will usually clean up the smoke that is coming out of your engine.
So it could be either one. If you are still smoking after 1K miles, your engine may have issues.
