I got my coupe middy installed and noticed this on the Y pipe



The other one wasn't as bad...just wondering if this needs to be replaced. Thanks.

 

This might not lead to a leak immediately since it really depends on whether the inner flex core is damaged or not. However, since the braided material is all scapred up, the inner core might go eventually due to lack of support.

IMO, just buy a used ypipe, it comes cheap enough.. especially the OEM ones

 

If it's not a major issue right now I'll hold off on it. What are some things I should look for, maybe signs, to know whether there is a problem occuring?

 

Nothing to worry about for a while

Thats just outside braided metal that protects the flex part of the pipe.

If the flex breaks you'll know, your car will sound like a race car
