HKS Install

I got an early b-day present. My HKS Legamax exaust arrived! Didnt think I would be able to get it installed till tomorrow but my friend was kind enough to stay open late and put it on.
It took both of us about 20 minutes to install it. VERY VERY easy... I didn't do the ypipe yet as I have yet to make up my mind on it and the cats.
I am VERY pleased with the sound, just a little deeper than stock which is what I was looking for. I really like the oval tips....
here are some pics

Re: HKS Install

Just adding the exhaust HKS states 7HP. This system does not come with a Y pipe. I spoke with a HKS tech for 30 minutes and he thinks I should skip adding the Ypipe and just do the cats.

Re: HKS Install

Thanks! I am very happy with the system and highly recommend it. I have decieded on the Crawford cats, they seem to get the best reviews. I am going to skip the Y-pipe and use the money for a plenum.
when i get home tonight I will post a short video.

Re: HKS Install

Hi Daniel,
Thanks for the compliment! Yep, got my G at Infiniti of Tampa...
No, my exhaust isn't the TI. I liked that one but the tips were a little too big for my taste. I think the oval ones give a nice classy look. I got my exhaust at a deep discount, I dont want to post the price so as not to offend the advertisers that support this site.
I was going to sign up for the dyno, but it looks filled up. I might try and get over there just to watch. I get my clear bra installed on sunday so I will be able to deal with all the love bugs on the way to Orlando!

Re: HKS Install

"Skip the Y-Pipe"... Well the stock and Fujitsubo Y-Pipes both have two 90 degree bends in them (like a right angle). They both are very restrictive from an air flow perspective. The JIC Y-Pipe has very shallow bends (closer to 150 degrees on each end) allowing air to flow more freely. If you want to skip out on this mod, you probably will not miss more than a few hp at the high end, if you don't change out the stock exhaust.

Shown above is the JIC Y-Pipe. See the next link for a photo of the Fujitsubo Y-Pipe (I don't know how to add 2 photos to the same link).

Re: HKS Install

Here's the Fujitsubo. See how the air has to really work its way through this set-up???

Re: HKS Install

neffster,
So you think the Fujitsubo so not worth it? The guy from HKS said he didnt think the Fujitsubo would be any better than the stock Y. Now the JIC lools like it WOULD be. The flow looks MUCH better on the JIC. Do you like your RT cats? I was leaning toward the Crawfords... The RT's are bolt on correct?
On everything G35 they show a "universal" one, but on other sites I have seen one that looks like a direct fit.
