Z tube install question

Hi guys,

finally installed my Ztube yesterday, question is, I've seen quite a few installs and why does my Ztube have the extra piece that hooks to the plenum on top? (circled in red)

The A/C vacuum line was underneath which was a bit tricky but I managed to fit it back on the intake pipe.

2nd pic is my factory V tube

Did a bit of a squirt around the neighbourhood after install and definately sounds a lot better around the 3-4K rpm!

Can't wait for the HKS muffler.

Just installed mine on my 06 coupe from an 06 Z just this weekend. It did not have the extra piping line. Not sure what that is.
Definitely sounds better than the stock setup.

guessing this is not US spec G35 since the master cylinder is on the left. i would guess the tube is an emissions difference.

Its a JDM V35 and the Z tube is out of an AUS Spec 350z. Do your factory G tubes have that cannister hooked to the bottom?

Correct. The G tube has the resonator chamber on the bottom. The Z tube does not, hence the slight increase in sound. However, both the Z and G have the breather tube underneath.

So would it be safe to assume that piece of plastic on the Z tube is the resonator chamber for the Z? Weird how USDM models don't have it...its a pain coz now I can't screw in that last screw on the top right hand corner of the engine cover.

I would only assume that if the chamber it goes to is closed. If it feeds into the plenum or anywhere else then it is acting as a breather. I cannot tell by the picture if it actually leads into something or it just stops near the throttle body.
