Spacer questions

Hey people,
So I wanted to buy the Blox spacer but I'm not that familiar with them. What size should i get, the bigger the better? Do i have to buy gaskets too, would i need two gaskets(on each side of the spacer) or just one(does it go on top or bottom of spacer). I know there is different brand spacers, but Blox is within my price range
I also want to get the Nismo CAI, Kinetix manifold and GroundingGear wires. Do i need to buy any additional hardware or little parts that would be necessary for the installation of these parts?

IMO go with Motordyne, independent test shows they out performs all the others. If cash is an issue check out the marketplace on this forum. There's always plenty of good deals there.

And if you have the revup engine you should also consider getting the MREV2 from MD.

Do some more search, lots of members on this forum stands by Motordyne products, plus their customer service is excellent.

Hi ResoG35Sedan,

I don't know if the Blox comes with gaskets or not, but I think it requires you to use silicone to seal it up. The drawback is that your plenum is glued shut afterwards.

As an alternative, you can probably use your current stock gasket on the bottom of the spacer and get another stock gasket, from your local dealership, to put on top of the spacer.

A 350Z user posted that his blox plastic spacer melted when installed, so be aware its a possibility.

Also, you won't be able to use a spacer with the Kinetix manifold at the same time. They aren't compatible with each other. So it would have to be one or the other.

just buy a used Crawford V5 plenum instead of a spacer and be done with it. you occasionally see one for sale in the maketplace for about $200 or so.

Thanks Guys
So I can not use any spacer with the Kinetix manifold, but i can use spacers with MREV2 manifold?

Would I need to use silicone no matter what spacer I use?

What power gain differeance is there between Crawford V5 planum and MREV2 with Motordyne spacer

I could be wrong, but I remember these testing out to be quite similar in terms of overall power gains. someone check me on this.

Yes.

No. At least not with the Motordyne spacer. The Motordyne spacer comes with gaskets pre-attached to the spacer so you just open up the plenum like a clam shell, put the spacer in and close it back up.

See the dyno section of our website. Nissan Sport Magazine did a independant comparison and published the results a while back.
The results of their test are posted in the dyno section of our website.

EDIT: The MREV2 was tested by Nissan Sport Magazine but it was not part of that comparison.

So I have a 2003 G35 Sedan, I'm guessing its a Non-Rev motor, and how would I tell?

This is what I understood from reading different threads:
- If i get the Mrev2 manifold for my engine, it will not make hardly any difference in power, either with or without Motordyne spacer. So I should just go with the Motordyne spacer?

- I can also go with the Kinetix manifold, but with manifold alone no spacers.

- Or I can go with Crawford V5 plenum (Can I combine V5 + Motordyne?)

What set-up/combinaiton would be the best to go with?

you have a Non-Rev up motor.

pass on the Kinetix manifold unless you are FI. it is mostly for looks.

you can not combine a Crawford plenum with Motordyne spacer. the spacer is providing more space to the front of your OEM plenum for better airflow across the front cylinders. Crawford does same thing, but replaces OEM plenum all together.

Crawford no longer makes their plenum from what I understand. you would have to get one used. or you could just buy one of the many spacers that are available: AAM, Motordyne, Skunk2, etc. one or the other, not both.

The MREV2 certainly works on the non-revup engine, but it works quite a bit differently.

Below is a comparison of Stock Vs Spacer Vs MREV2 Vs Spacer with MREV2. All of this testing was performed on a 2004 G35 Sedan with the non-revup engine.

Also see this link to an independent test on a NON-REVUP engine.

Here is a link to independent testing on the REVUP engine. This gives context to the differences between the two different engines.

no problem. can't go wrong either way you go. Motordyne spacer is the only one I would choose based on real world results. but since I already have a Crawford plenum I am good to go and partial to this fine upgrade I did.

good luck with your mods.
