Well as Dave said they are OEM Headers off a 08 350Z. Compared the cost of aftermarket headers, I save few hundred dollars. Nissan made the changes to the parts(Y-pipe, air box, switch to headers vice a manifold) for for a reason. I should get more bang for my buck going this route, instead of buying all aftermarket parts. DaveB stumbled on to something and why not upgrade our older VQ's with some of the newer VQ goodies. I'll keep you all posted.

ok. next update. As suggested from someone on 350Z.com, i purchased an exhaust manifold gasket for the a 03 VQ35DE and match it to the 08 350Z headers. It matches up perfectly. The 08 headers will require 2 additional holes drilled in the center flange. The 08 header has 6 bolt holes (2 on each end/2 in the center) whereas the 03 exhaust manifold has 8 (2 on each end/4 in the center). There's plenty of room on the flange to drill the additional holes. I went to my local nissan dealer to purchase the gasket...$59.00..F that..Auto Zone sold a pair of FEL-PRO gaskets for $9.00. Wonder what the infiniti dealership charges?? Will try and get the headers installed over the holidays.

Definitely get the OEM gaskets. The OEM ones are designed correctly and for longterm usage plus I've NEVER had an OEM exhaust gasket fail, but I've had lots of aftermarket "OEM equipment" gaskets fail. When you're digging into a project like this, it would be wiser to spend the extra money now rather than risk having to replace the gaskets in 5K miles. Try Infinitipartsusa.com for the gaskets ($33 ea).

As for the holes, hold off for now because the OEM DE manifolds only use two studs/bolts in the center flange (confirmed with the FSM). The extra two holes on DE flange have no purpose and I believe the configuration of the studs from DE to HR are the same across the entire flange.

Header Install

Finally found a set of 08 350Z headers. Will start the install shortly. For you folks who want to save a couple of bucks, here is what I've spent so far:

08 350z Headers: 120.00
08 350Z Cats: 200.00
Gaskets/misc parts: 75.00
Total: 395.00

Did a comparison with some after market parts:

DC Headers: 769.00
Stillen Cats: 515.00
Total: 1284.00

Total Savings: 889.00

Definitely not cracking on the after market parts, but if I can get the same performance out of OEM parts and save a few bucks for other things, why not!! I'll keep you posted.

That's a pretty good price for the OEM cats... When my car got damaged and needed the cats replaced they were 749.99. Fortunately it was all insurance payment.

that right headers with cams do.

not cost effective though.

with or without cams, car should be tuned after headers are installed.

Header Install

Take a look through this thread and you will see the headers: https://g35driver.com/forums/intake-...-2003-g35.html. I bought them off of My350Z.com
