Exhaust advice needed!!

I have no mods to my G, and thought it would be a good starting point to mess with the exhaust. I was looking under the car and figured, why not just cut the box before the muffler and put a turn down right there. That way it still looks stock but the only restriction on the exhaust will be the cats. Will it sound good? Is it worth it? I know it would be cheap and easy. Thanks for ALL the help.

I'm running my exhaust with no muffler (still have the stock cats/y-pipe/midpipe) and it sounds really good, a little louder but not rediculously loud. I plan on doing a custom exhaust with straight pipes coming from the y-pipe and two Ti mufflers, sounds really good and its plenty loud plus its not gonna break the bank

I have pretty much a straight pipe cat-back with some resonators, it sounds good. and looks stock to the untrained eye (aka anyone who does not have a G35 lol)

I wouldnt go around cutting your stock parts, you might want to put them back on one day.

research the exhaust you want, (a popular one seems to be the HKS), and spend the money on a real set-up.

I went the custom route. Here is what my car sounded like with just a cat-back (2.5 inch true duel custom cat-back)
(no mufflers, just 4 resonators)

After headers and other mods:
