DC sport Headers

Re: DC sport Headers
I have them on my sedan 6mt. Took me 7 hrs to install and a lot of scrapes and arm damage to show for it. Sound is much louder at the top of the rpm's .....even with the stock cats back on. With test pipes it was absolutely obnoxious. I am looking at getting a set of resonated test pipes to replace my cats again.

Re: DC sport Headers
what do u guys who run test pipes do when it comes time for inspection? I noticed that the last time i went for inspection its not like they put my car up on a lift or anything (not my g but my suburban). Would they even notice the missing cats? I would think that maybe theyd hear the suond and think something was up if they werent there.

Re: DC sport Headers
245 rwhp on a optimistic Dynojet? Or a loaded Mustang more accurate dyno?
Who [normal non performance person] will buy a moded: headers, cats, exhaust, G35.....by the way as an owner you are legally responsible for returning it to oem status prior to or AFTER the sale if found out till 100,000 miles.
"As is" is no legal protection for emission tampering/fraud.
Many states measure the emissions on a dyno, not just the go no go MIL light code check test.
Consider the situation where you sell the car it passes to another state or two, fails, then the source is tracked back to you 3 years later. There is some protection if you sell to a dealer because they are supposed to check these things but you will still have to share in liability to restore.

Re: DC sport Headers
That's easy Q, just sell the car with the stock parts back on and simply sell the aftermarket upgrades for $.20 on the dollar. The only thing I'd say would be a problem is the headers (one more reason why I'm staying with the stock headers).

Re: DC sport Headers
let's get back to the original question.... DC Headers are definitely one of the cheapest options for us. but is it worth the savings?
If they are not going to give as much gain as even borla then I wouldn't go for them. I think that if you are "hardcore" enough to get headers then it makes no sense to skimp on the part.
Not that I am about to dish out $1000 for the Crawfords. I am hoping someone will say "LOOK! my XXX headers do almost as good as Crawfords and they cost 1/2 as much!" then we'd all be happy. thou I don't see that happening.

Re: DC sport Headers
-fish,
That's exactly the conclusion I came to a while back. From removing the engine from it's mounts to questionable gains for the money (I'd have to have someone else do the install since I live in FL), so I decided to pass on the headers and just do everything else in the air flow equation... and I didn't even know about the heat issues...
Unfortunately I cannot decide if Vortec really fits into the air flow equation (or financial equation).

Re: DC sport Headers
Super Street magizine got 14hp on the dyno from a Dc Sport header and a prototype true dual exhaust on the sedan. TD's on the sedan alone usually make good gains by themselves however.
