I am just curious... If you check the General Media Share section, I posted pics of my G in an accident. Looks like the shop said I'd need a new exhaust system. I'm debating if I should just tell them to go ahead and order me an aftermarket exhaust.

Anyhow, here's my situation: if replacing exhaust, I would prefer it be replaced w/ an aftermarket system. Since my insurance is the one cutting the check for the car to be fixed, does anyone know if telling the shop to order an aftermarket system instead of an OEM system is allowed?

I don't know how insurance works w/ fixing cars, so just curious.

I'm pretty sure you just pay whatever the check doesn't cover.

 

That's why I did on my G. Just tell whoever is doing the insurance work that you want aftermarket parts. And you'll pay the difference between OE and aftermarket.

Also ask how much the shop orders the aftermarket parts for. It could be cheaper for you to refer them to an online vendor. Or get the part from here and have the shop reimburse you.

 

Hmm, nobody knows the price for OEM exhaust though?
