Testpipes question

Just had my exhaust installed (Invidia G200) on my 04' Coupe, had FI testpipes beside me, however the guy warned me I shouldn't install them before going on a trip (I'm going on a trip to the next province over in 2 weeks), as if all of a sudden the test pipes through a CEL my ECU will shut down the car.

Is this the case? I do have UpRev Osiris/Cipher (which I haven't used yet), where apparently I can kill a CEL light if it appears. Just wondering if its risky putting on these test pipes before going out on this trip in 2 weeks.

No. Its no risk at all if installed properly.

A test pipe CEL wont do anything other than shine a little light on the dash.

Ok so another thing the guy told me is, the bolts seems to be pretty rusted underneath my car, so should I invest in buying new o2 sensors before getting the test pipes installed? He told me he probably couldn't get the sensors out with thread left.

The O2 sensors have nothing to do with the bolts.

It sounds like he may be trying to sell you sensors you don't need.

So what part of the exhaust does the O2 sensor monitor? Why would he say the O2 sensors would be an issue? Does have he have to take off the O2 sensors to install the testpipes?

No. The O2 sensors are upstream of the test pipes. They are mounted in the stock headers (manifolds).

So did this guy at the exhaust shop just not know what he was talking about then? Main problem he was trying to get at was all the bolts on my car are rusted, meaning he'd probably have a hard dis-assembly, of my stock cats, meaning possibly damaging the o2 sensors. However based on what your telling me it should be alright to give him (or maybe someone else lol) the go?

Evidently this guy is talking out of his a$$. I've been running with the CEL light on my car for over and year and the only difference there is is just that little light on the dashboard.

I also don't think the Cipher or Osiris can kill the CEL (?).

Yeah, go for it.

Besides, you will appreciate the extra power available for that long drive.
