Well on the 350z forums, people have been using the mag X-pipe to reduce the rasp from hfcs on their own dual systems like the Borla, hks etc....

But they were going from HFCs -> mag X. I'm not sure what the result would be if we went from Mag X -> hfcs. Result would be of course the same. Perception might be different though. As if you already have the X, I would think the noise level can go only up. by how much is the question

I am confused by your post; I have the HFC's with drone and want to get rid of it; if the X pipe works on the 350's it should work on the G, right?

I don't have an X already, just the normal Borla cat back.

Basicly, if you have hfcs, adding the X will reduce the rasp and should quiet down the sound a good amount.

To clarify my statement. Let's say the sound / rasp with hfcs and X = 10.

Your sound level is at 15 right now. Adding the X gets you down to 10.

I'm at let's say 8 (X w/o hfcs). Adding the hfcs will get me to 10.

So while the end result is the same (aka 10). Adding hfcs in my case will result in a higher than current sound level ( from a 8 to a 10 )

Well that's my thinking anyway.

FYI Fast Intentions uses the magnaflow X-pipe on their intimidator exhausts

Can the X pipe be bolted in or does it have to be welded? Other than the 1600-2000 RPM range I have no complaints.

If the shop is good, they can weld one side and maintain the slip fit on the other.

Jeff, in all your research did you run across an H-pipe option like this? I can't even seem to find one anymore on the Magnaflow site. I love the low-pitched sound and don't really want a higher pitch, but I definitely want the drone gone. A little torque doesn't hurt either.

Alternatively, Borla sent me a couple small venturi pieces they said I could have welded in which would help. I can't find anyone who's done this though. I'm curious how it turns out. I've found essentially the same thing on the Summit Racing site, which says it increases low end torque without sacrificing top end power. However everything I've found says it's most effective on bigger diameter exhausts. With the 2.25" Borla, I'm not entirely sure about it.
