Unlimited Tuning Y-Pipe Update!

Here's the scoop people. It looks like my G will be the first
to be tested with the Unlimited Tuning Y pipe.
I spoke to someone today from Unlimited Tuning and after exchanging a few emails, I agreed to let them dyno my
car before and after installation of their Y pipe.
It looks like its going to happen the week of July 19th.
Waiting for a confirmed appointment date. I'll keep everyone
posted.

Cool, keep us posted and get as much info as you can regarding the dyno results, the dyno machine, the conditions, etc. Also, looking at your sig, your basically stock engine wise besides the CAI right?

Completely stock except for CAI. They were looking for
something as close to stock as possible.

Why not let an independent third party dyno it? Unlimited will make the numbers do whatever they want. You'll never know the truth.

Re: Unlimited Tuning Y-Pipe Update!

no catafish.. people LIKE to think that they are running 350 hp after a grounding kit and aluminum pedals (each adds mimum of 35 hp you know according to company dynos). LOL the only dynos i ever even look at any more are the ones that users do.

2004 Black on Black g coupe 6spd.... aluminum pedals, clear corners, z tube, and pop charger. soon to have 19" volk gt-c's and PIAA xtreme whites in the clearance and corners

I agree with raznips. The only dyno sheets I place any value on are from forum members who aren't affiliated with a vendor.

Re: Unlimited Tuning Y-Pipe Update!

Dyno days are not only informative, they're one heck of a good time. I encourage more people to dyno before/after conditions. I'm going to find another local shop to do an after dyno so that I can show the gains of the JIC Y-Pipe and the Fujitsubo Exhaust. Of course I plan on waiting for 500-1000 miles after the install before I dyno...

Re: Unlimited Tuning Y-Pipe Update!

Catatafish

It is an independent shop that will be doing the dyno. The dyno shop is in no way affiliated with Ultimate Tuning.
It's more of a convenient thing for them because the shop
is only minutes from their HQ. I am very skeptical about
their hp & torque claims also thats why I called them.
Their willing to dyno my car 4 times prior to installation
of the y pipe and 4 times after. The dyno shop is located
in Great Neck, N.Y. if anyone in the area wants to come along the more the merrier. It looks like the week of the
19th, don't know what date yet, waiting for a call back to
confirm appt.

Re: Unlimited Tuning Y-Pipe Update!

That sounds good. Just make sure the dyno shop is directed by you, not the vendor. For the before and after make sure you record temp, humidity, altitude, and barometric pressure. That way you'll be able to normalize the pre and post runs. I look forward to seeing the data!

Re: Unlimited Tuning Y-Pipe Update!

Hmm, had I known in advance of the dyno test I would have been willing to see if (big if) Kinetix would have been willing to send their new Y-pipe to the same shop to do a dyno comparo between the two. Oh well, something tells me the Kinetix Y-pipe isn't ready yet.

Re: Unlimited Tuning Y-Pipe Update!

It would be interesting to get the kinetix, jic, fuji, and the unlimited v. the stock on the same car, same dyno, same day. That would probably be at least a 3 hour affair and probably very spendy.

Re: Unlimited Tuning Y-Pipe Update!

Hello all G35 owners,

We have received many inquiries in the past 2 weeks regarding our Y-Pipe. We have decided to dyno the G35 with our Y-Pipe installed on the vehicle. Therefore, we need volunteer G35 owners in the NY TriState Area to contact us if you are willing to go for the dyno. The dyno shop we use is located in Great Neck and we are not affiliated with them in any way. We prefer the vehicle to be COMPLETE stock for more accurate results. Thank you.

Regards,
Unlimited Tuning

Re: Unlimited Tuning Y-Pipe Update!

I'm really glad that you guys are taking the time and effort to do this. This will definitely help your sales and credibility with us.

Having stock cars do the dyno is good, but seeing the difference on a car with other mods is just as good. Since most if not all the people who are looking for a Y-Pipe will also have/want other mods, right?

a car with intake, plenum & cats could even see more gains?

well, anyhow, can't wait to see the dynos.
