what is the difference?

i dont really plan on putting one on but i just wanted to ask.

what is the difference between the cheap 20 dollar rice burner mufflers and the expensive ones that are the same shape as the rice burner ones. like the ones a lot of you guys put on your car. whats different on the insde? arent they both just straight through glass pack style resonators? i dont get why the cheap ones sound terrible but the expensive ones sound good. can anyone explain?
