Cold Air Intake

I have an '06 G35 sedan that I want to slowly mod, as i'm only 16 and do not have the resources. I think my next upgrades are plenum spacers, cold air intake, and new exhaust system (i want it on both sides i think it looks weird on the one side). So does anyone have any thoughts on the best cold air intake and if they are easy to install. My shop says it will be $120 for them to install and i would love to cut that out if i could. Thanks

Installing a CAI is a 20-minute job you can do yourself.

Do some research on dual exhaust for sedans, it's not as simple as bolting one on, but it can and has been done.

120$ to install a tube and connect a hose and wire hahaha. Just do it yourself... Only takes some basic hand tools and 30 minutes tops to put an intake in.

The cold air intake is really not worth the money. A simple Ztube or whatever and an K&N filter would be a cheaper investment doing more less the same thing. The air intakes for the G are more show then go.

I have a cheapo ebay 350Z CAI on my sedan. Purely for sound (it does sound really nice)
You won't see any performance gains from a CAI, but they can look/sound good, so go for it... and do it yourself, it will be good practice (ah to be 16 again)

dude, get a socket wrench and 10mm peice, $10 + $2.49 at home depot. Takes like 5 min seriously there is nothing you can possibly break unless you are really freaking stupid.

DIY for CAI, click subsections

Is $120 for parts+labor? Then it's a steal...but then for the price, the parts (filter/hose, etc) must not be quality products.
I have Z tube, K&N, Revup box and removed power duct with dense foam seal to prevent hot air from going into the intake. These combo makes good sound and economical. I did all those in different time span but if all done together minus the bonding of foam, it is no more than 30 min.

Technically, something like a Stillen is a true dual, just has both exits on one side. Looks nice, though:

OMG....only INFINITI would charge you that kinda $ for the intake install. Just get a z-tube and a K&N drop in filter and your intake chores are done, install shouldn't take more than 15 minutes. DIY and save that $ for you exhaust install!
