Stillen Gen 2 Muffler falls apart
This story starts off as a horror story , but has a nice ending,
1st off I used to have tons of respect for Stillen & there products, but over time its all collapsed , but i gotta assume some responsibility for assuming that there products are quality . And for the record the only problem that i have with them is there total inability to offer any type product backing,.
1.Case in point ,back in 2008 a brand new pair of Stillen HFC's failed on me, the metal HFC core broke loose and pushed through the Stillen gen 2 exhaust and lodged in the gen 2 muffler , because of the design of the muffler the HFC core couldn't be accessed without cutting off one of the muffler tips, removing the plug and welding the tip back on100.00$ for labor .
I hand deliver the blown hcf back to Stillen expecting a immediate replacement , but noooooooo, they hold on to it 4 an "investigation " im told to sit tight " for a few" ..AFTER 3 MONTHS I'm TOLD THAT ITS MY FAULT CAUSE i'm tuned how is that possible ? I followed the Stillen catalog "i in stalled there full cat back exhaust,there HFC's There headers and they blame the tune WTF ...So anyways....9 MONTHS LATER FINALLY I GET MY replacement set of HFC's , after all that they blame my tune / bad batch of core materials .,Guys i'm NA i'm puttin down 291 whp , that shouldn't blow out a "Race Certified HFC" after going through the sales man , sales manager, general manager, and finally the VP..... WOW!!!!!!
2. So the HHC's go back in (My fault) 4 months later same exact thing!!!!
Call Stillen on fire,they tell me no way, impossible , they tell me i got nothing coming. So i repair the muffler the same way as before , and a short while later the muffler just falls apart, vibration ,noise ,piece o %hit.
So just to see i call Stillen to see how much for the "BOLT ON MUFFLER " REPLACEMENT, and they wont sell it , they insist that u get the brand new system 1100.00$ WTF?
So i cut that Stillen peice o %hit muffler off and threw on a Magna flow dual in dual out hi flow muffler still using the stillen headers kinnetix HFC's and the Stillen gen 2 piping all the way to the maqgana flow muffler.
Sound is still a little less raspy , but %uckin DEEP and crazy sounding ,ill post video when the rain stops.... Sounds more like a built 350Z or Coupe with test pipes, , im a grown *** man, and this thing sounds beastly.. seriously ( i know ther will be those that disagree ... Totally!!)
Moral of the story , buy products from manufacturers that give a %**** about u, and ur business

What i'm putting down to the wheel is not really the issue but i'm dynoed and tuned at CHURCH auto some say that the numbers r high there ,
But let me put it to u likr this , If ur kid brought home a report card with all A's would you question the grading curve? Wolud you guestion the teachers credentials? Or the school that the teacher was taught at?... No you wouldn't.
You would just be proud that your baby did good and kicked a%%.

If you have low numbers go to Church
(Auto that is ) you will be happy

How is that analogy correct? You know if youre kid is capable or not, same as in a car. If your kid has made C's all day long for as long as you have known, and all of a sudden made A's with no major changes, wouldn't you question it yourself?

There's no way you're pushing 291whp with those bolt-ons, but dyno numbers are all just relative anyways. Use them to see what gains your mods are netting you, not to give a definitive number. And as long as you're happy with how your car feels it's all good.
Anyways yeah Stillen sucks in general. No surprise there. The only part from them I'd put on my car is their z-tube because I don't think anybody can possibly **** up making a plastic tube.

I know I am way late but the same thing just happend to me minus the hfc, but my muffler is shot but I know I can't get replacement muffler, so my ? What is the piping diameter, and exactly where did you cut the muffler off at?
