Test Pipes & Y Pipe Delete Differences

I have issues with my y pipe. On my 3rd one and need a 4th...I'm just too low and raising is not option.

I have test pipes with OEM y pipe, coupe midpipe and a Sebring muffler (no not Chrysler Sebring) on my sedan. I'm thinking of taking off my non-resonated Kinetix test pipes, swapping them for the OEM ones and for the y pipe, replace it with a straight pipe.

Just wondering the difference would be. Possible increase/decrease in rasp? Increase/decrease in power?

I don't car if I lose some power, I'm just sicking of my car sounding like shit because the flex joints have ripped open.

Well you'll lose some low end torque. Perhaps not too much. I ran the borla true dual that had a 2 in / 2 out muffler so it essentially was a non-connected dual exhaust all the way out. Low end felt soft until I put my custom X pipe in that system.

You could try doing the Y w/o flex sections. You might run into cracking welds but it might be better than what you have now. Or you might consider putting the flex sections up closwer to the TP, or in the TP pipes themselves. ie.. up above the ground some

Levon, I'm curious how low you are that you are having issues with your Y-Pipe. Whats the measurement from the top the arch on the wheel well to the ground?

Thanks for the info Jeff. For doing the Y w/o flex sections do you mean directly using the OEM Y pipe and cutting out the flex sections and getting some piping welded to it?

I just hate the sound I have, especially when the car warms up. I feel like I'm driving a Civic with a fart can.

Marcus, I'll check once I get the chance...some of the areas I drive and park in at work have long and steep entries/exits. Sometimes not much room for angling alot.

Another issue I have is that a while back I got stuck at the Irvine Spectrum. I was driving, doing about 5 mph or so and my car came to a complete stop on its own. The upper middle part of the car caught onto something and I think it affected my brackets or something. It pushed my exhaust back a good inch or so..this was when I was slammed with F&F coils.

My flex joints are also ripped up, but not to the degree that yours are I think, because I don't hear any sounds from it. My plan is to just get the Megan y-pipe ($120) and keep replacing it each time the flex joints rip up. I'm pretty low too and raising is not an option. haha, the **** we go through man

Yup. Since your flexes are trash, have the shop cut them out and put straight pipe in. But your fitments will have to be right on so you don't stress any of the welds and crack them. You should consider putting some in at the TPs or one along the mid pipe? You could put one just in front of the coupe middy? The flex section won't be nearly as tall as the coupe mid resonator.

I feel ya Levon. My cats and Y-Pipe scrape every once in a while coming out of my drive way at work. The reason why I think twice about going a bit lower is not because of my exhaust components scraping but my front bumper. I'm curious how low you were when you had the KuRookie. Right now my front sits 2 3/4" off the ground.

My KuRookie was about 2 1/4" above the ground IIRC. When I got my ticket for my vehicle being too low they wrote down that the lowest part of my car was 2" (side skirt thanks to mud / splash guard).
