Pick my Xmas present!!!!

I have a 2004 sedan and the wife agreed to get me exhaust for Xmas. But, it can't be too much

So.....I trust your opinions...

Borla
HKS
Greddy
Nismo
Stillen, ETC

Let me know what you think and why. So far to me, it's between Borla and Stillen. I want a nice deep sound, no ricey rasping sound.

thanks
mike

I think you can flip a coin between the two, both good quality items.

Re: Pick my Xmas present!!!!

About 4-5 months ago I went with the Stillen because they were the only manufacturer who directly stated & advertised their HP gains. (+22 HP)

At the time I couldn't find any numbers for Borla. For all I knew, it may not change HP at all... And I wanted HP gain...You may be able to find Borla HP numbers out there somewhere (mabey even on this board) but I don't know specifically where. I think it would be safe to say Borla will have good gains.

Depending on your tastes, the Stillen is somewhat loud. I don't like the sound but others do. For the most part, the Stillen is a well engineered system designed for performance. The materials and build quality are TOP notch. The Stillen may very well be the highest performance catback on the market.

OTOH, I've read on this board that Borla sounds really good and very few have said it was too loud.

Try going to a G35 GTG. You may have a chance to see/hear both systems.

Re: Pick my Xmas present!!!!

Hydrazine, Thanks for the response. I have read all the posts on this site regarding exhaust for the sedan and it does come down to borla and Stillen.
We have a meet planned in Houston this weekend, so hopefully i can hear some different exhaust notes.
I also read about the Borla being more quiet than the Stillen.
But considering I haven't heard a sound clip of either on a sedan, I can't make that judgment my self.

Thanks again
mike

Re: Pick my Xmas present!!!!

I've gotten alot of feedback from people and I certainly appreciate it.
For now, it looks like Stillen is in the lead, for looks of quality of product and that it produces more power.

Let me know your opinions.

thanks

Re: Pick my Xmas present!!!!

Borla and Test pipes gave me crazy gains, changed the whole manor of the car and sounds deep and SICK, no rasp at all!! Stillen looks better though lol, dont know much about #'s except for what they state (Stillen) Both are good, cant go wrong with either one!

Re: Pick my Xmas present!!!!

I did a little more research and head that alot of people are having issues with the droning on Stillen and Borla. Some to a point that it's unbearable.
Anyone have this issue.

thanks

Borla. The tone is gorgeous, and the drone actually is unnoticable after you drive it for a few days. I actually like it, though... The fact that it's true dual gives it a great classic, non-rice roughness. I briefly considered the Fuji, but I thought it sounded and looked a little too rice for me.

GeoBau

How is the fit and finish of the Borla. Some people have said that the bands used to seal the pipes might leak, and or isn't as nice as the Stillen.
Considering that it's under the car, I'm not too interested in seeing anything other than the tips.

Also, did you feel any increase in power?

Thanks
mike

Re: Pick my Xmas present!!!!

If you fit it correctly, there's no problem at all. It's all in the install...

I had a few things done to my car at the same time that I threw on the exhaust, so I can't attribute the power boost (and there definitely is one) to solely the exhaust.

All you see is the tips peeking out under the bumper, with BORLA emblazened on top of them. Classy, simple.

Throw a Pop/Z or CAI on it, and boy does it sound sweet.

Re: Pick my Xmas present!!!!

Geobau,

Thanks for the information. I already have a z-tube and K&N, so the sound might be as good.

If you have clips I want them, add to my research.
If you could..send them to mepperson@gmail.com. Large enough email place to see them all.

Again, thanks for the info.
