Original Airbox

I took my car into an Infiniti dealership today because my car has been shaking in neutral. They told me that the intake that the previous owner installed is causing moisture to mess up my MAF sensor. He said I need to install the original airbox in the car. The price for one if $1700.

Does anyone know of a place when I can find this part for cheaper? Has anyone else had this problem? Should I get another intake system to try to avoid this cost?

OMG, is there any wonder why we never go to the stealership for anything other than maintance work? MAF sensors get dirty, changing your air filter will help but over time they collect dirt/moisture. Here's Riverside Infinitis number 800-919-8130 ask for Rick, they're sponsors here on DRIVER selling us parts at wholesale. That's if you really believe you need a new airbox, install time is no more than 10 minutes.

Wish I could see what the stealership is going to charge you $1700 for and what's wrong with the one you're using. Buy the correct air box for the year G35 you have from one of our members or eBay. Like I posted, it's a very quick and easy job to install.

What intake are you running now? At what RPM does your car idle at when it's warm? Should be around 600-650 RPM. First thing you should try is restarting your ECU. Unplug the negative terminal of your battery for an hour or so, see if that helps any.

The intake is by Typhoon. Im not sure the exact model because the previous owner installed it.

The service guy told me I would have to put the original airbox back in, but I enjoy the intake sound and extra power I get and I know a lot of drivers make this upgrade first.

What he was saying made no sense to me honestly

Have you tried resetting the ecu? You can also try resetting the throttle body.

I haven't, but im willing to give it a shot if you let me know how to do it. Does that solve the car shaking when idle?

I'd say the maf is dirty. I'd try that 1st. IMHO, there's nothing that typhoon unit could really do (design wise) to screw up the idle like that. Remember, you are talking to a monkey (Infiniti tech)

I see. How do I go about cleaning it? Also should I get a new filter for the intake?

At some point, you are going to have to learn to use the search feature. The journey is often more informative than the destination
