Anyone try the 370z Nismo "true" dual Y pipe on a VQ/HR G?

Looks sorta like a HKS dual. ie.. two down pipes that are connected with a H pipe. Instead of a Y collector the dual pipes continue down like a HKS unit. (for the coupe).

You'd have to modify the rest of your exhaust or collect it down before the muffler though.

FYI it is a pretty quiet exhaust unless you are over 6k rpm......

I've just noticed that the Nismo system is much more of a true dual and that some guys are putting the Nismo on their 370Zs. Not sure of any gains but I like the design.

I wonder if the diameters are different. IMHO, it doesn't make any sense on the 370z to Y it down to 1 pipe then split it back out to duals again.

^i agree. I never get the point of manufacturers doing that.....

The only issue that have with the original Nismo exhaust is the H-pipe. I am thinking about either replacing the H with X-pipe and hopefully get more/smoother sound or just sell my exhaust as a whole and do a custom one with the same exact design that i had on my G which is basically the same as stillen with magnaflow muffler.

I think the design is acceptable. Just don't know if the dias are big enough for good gains. I hear the HR37 likes some big pipe.

It all really depends on the size of the OEM pipes. We know the HR y-pipes have significantly smaller downpipes than the DE downpipes (2" vs 1.8"). If they carry the dual 1.8" ID pipes all the way to the muffler, there really isn't any exhaust volume gain compared to the DE's single 2.45" ID pipe.
