Test pipe exploding

Hey guys i was just wondering if this has happened to anyone else. i have an 03 coupe 6MT with full exhaust header back and pop charger and i was doing some racing last night and the last race of the night i was in 2nd gear and my passenger side test pipe just exploded. blew a baseball size hole right thru the test pipe. ive never heard of this and either has anyone ive talked to. i was just wondering if any of you guys have experienced this?

Granny shiftin' not double clutchin' like you should. You're lucky that hundred shot of NOS didn't blow the welds on the intake!

I don't see how that's possible. Are you sure you didn't hit something?

no i didnt hit anything im thinking it had to have had a crack in it before and just progessively gotten bigger thats the only thing i could think of. but no pictures yet i have to order my new test pipes then ill take these off and get a picture of it

What test pipes do you have?

That's pretty intense. I've heard of some resonated test pipes having the stuff inside of them blowing out but that's only thing relatively close.

i have helix test pipes and yeah it just blew a hole right thru the side in the middle of the test pipe its about the size of a baseball

Probably built up pressure with a crack in one of the welds. Pretty cool in for pictures

test pipes have a lot of heat and vibration. Plus the back pressure... anythings possible!

heat wrapping an exhaust retains heat. I don't know how that would help/ not help.
