Berk Hfc/various y-pipe/Tanabe Medallion

Figured I would try over here since nobody really has this set up on my350.

My current set up is Berk hfc's> HR-Y-pipe> Tanabe Medallion. Great sounding set up when warmed up, but I think the HR- Y-pipe is creating undue rasp/turbulance at the merge points. I have a DE obviously.

Does anyone have the above set-up with a motordyne xyz(resonated or otherwise) or other larger diameter Y-pipe?

I'm trying to get the cleanest sound possible, without killing the deepness.

Thanks

How much rasp are you getting, and does it go away when the car is fully warmed up? I have the same exhaust with the tanabe ypipe and I love the way it sounds right now but I am afraid of getting the Berks HFC from reading some posts here about it being raspy.

It sounds sick when its warmed up, but after start up it is raspy. not much you can do though. ART pipes may help, which i was looking into.

I'm getting a rasp/rattle sound above 4500rpm with Berk HFC + HR Y-pipe + stock muffler. Do you think the "hockey puck" dampers on the HR Y-pipe are the culprit?

It is the flex pipes on the Y-pipe that create to rattle/rasp.

I have the HR and Tanabe with OEM cats on my revup DE...no rasp/rattle at all. Rasp must be from the Berks.

I know this threads a couple months old but thought I'd chime in.
HFCs will def add rasp to that setup.

I had the oem cats with HR ypipe and Tanabe Medalion exhaust and it was perfect.
I wanted something a little louder, but still loved it.
It was def deeper than oem and had a great subdued, deep gurgle.
I then put on the berk HFCs and that really opened the exhaust up.
It was def louder and did add some rasp, especially when I gunned it full throttle.
But I'm going to stick with the HFCs, the performace gain is to good.
If anything I might eventually change to a full catback exhaust with an x-pipe.

bumping my own thread.

Still considering other options and would like any one with this combo to chime in/ post a clip. Either looking at xyz pipe to settle things down or ART pipes for a pony or two more anyway.

ART Pipes took a lot of rasp out of my system when I switched from the Berks. I highly recommend.

I have an HR Y-pipe as well which I think is a restriction which I'd like to swap out too. But with a larger diameter pipe im sure it would get louder too.

heres my input.

I originally had tanabe hypee medallion, stock de y pipe stock cats. Sounded amazing, installed Fast intentions high flow cats and it gave me rasp. I installed a motordyne xyz pipe with resonator hoping this would eliminate rasp, well it did a little but made the exhaust sound like a fart can I hated it. Took off the resonator installed the straight pipe module and it sounded better, still some rasp but nothing serious. I plan on adding art pipes to see what happens.

Would love to see a video of it. This is the exhaust I am considering to go with. I'm hoping it will sound great with the vortech supercharger.
