D@mn I was under the assumption that HFCs lasted a heck of a lot longer than 20k miles.
Couldn't find any warranty info on my Berks online.

^^^ they often times do last longer...

You arent likely to find much of a warranty on HFC (minimal at best) - so research and use ones that others have had good luck with.

I absolute,y knew this would happen... this thread jinxed me...

A while back I replaced passenger side Crawford cat... now after this thread driver side is bad (it was bound to happen eventually anyway)...

Now my dilemma is - cheapest option = buy driver side replacement cat - passenger side only has a couple thousand miles maybe less (probably less) then I'd have another 20-30KL miles more than likely on the pair...

Or do like Calvin said and get metallic substrate cats...

Or MD ART Pipes...

If you got the cash, go with the ART pipes and call it a day.

I wish it was that easy for me... if you knew the car and how over-analytical I am about what I do with it - I cant ever make it that simple... wish I could

Any details on how a cat goes bad would be very helpful.

I have had my Crawford Cats on my car for 5+ years and probably 60K+ miles.

To my knowledge, everything is just fine with them...

Thanks.

nasty, loud, annoying rattle... the material breaks into pieces, sometimes small sometimes chunks - then it clanks around in the chamber... you'll know it when it happens.

There is a moderate loss of performance too... when my passenger side broke up, it wasnt so noticeable... but the driver side is bad now, and it's noticeable (to me - others might not notice).

I just ordered driver-side replacement from Doug (passenger side doesnt have manhy miles) - so I should be good to go for a while *knock wood*

60K miles is great! I rarely drive the G, but when I do it's typically short trips (and some track) - so they dont last as long (I got mid 20K miles I think)... if you do longer trips they should last longer (all this according to Doug @ Crawford).

bought my AAM high flow cats used, I think they had 5-10k on them... I put at least that on them since I've had them and there are no signs of them going out.
