Exhaust Extension pipe location

Searched, didn't find answer assuming since I think this is a unique issue. I know the primary location for the exhaust extension (to fit a Z exhaust on a G) is after the y-pipe. Would there be any issue with me putting the extension pipes between the downpipe and the y-pipe, essentially moving the y-pipe back. I want to do this so I can have my wastegates recirculate, they can't go into the DP and I still want to be able to change exhaust if I want, hence I came up with this idea

that would not work because that would just push the exhaust closer to the ground. not back

^ This, and depending on the extension diameter also. I believe the extension after the y is 2.5" and the two extensions placed before the y are 2". I own a pair, and I did felt a bit more torque with my de y pipe. I switched to the hr y pipe and removed them because my y pipe was hitting the car. So I welded an extension on my 350z midpipe. If you would like, I would sell my two post-cat extensions, pm me if interested.

How would it move the y-pipe down and not back. The whole exhaust is the same length just putting the extension before the y-pipe instead of after. If you could explain that that would be greatly appreciated.

oh wait. sorry nevermind it would push it down. i forgot that the cats on this car level out and the flanges are parallel with the ground. so it would still push it back. but like said above the pipe sizes are different i believe

This will push the merge point of the Y-pipe more toward the back of the car which will hurt your torque. It might not be that noticeable though, depending on how far you push it back.

I plan on pushing it back at the normal extension length (6" I think) and with being able to be in full boost by 2500 RPM I probably won't notice the slight drop in torque, which I would be willing to trade to have the recirculation pipes
