Won't start when warmed up, period.
Hey guys,
I've searched and searched here and 350z forums without finding my exact issue. I hope some of you have some suggestions.
'05 G35 Coupe 5AT, 46k miles.
A couple of weeks ago the car began taking longer to start after it had been driven and stopped - maybe 8-12 crank revolutions. Always starts fine when engine not warmed up.
Now, it won't start period until it cools down to about 1/3rd up on the temp gauge. At which point it starts and runs normally. Never stalls or idles low, just won't start after it's been driven. Starter is cranking good and fast.
Only thing I've done in an attempt to fix it was the ECU reset, which did make it quite a bit more fun to drive, but didn't help he hot start problem.
Any suggestions are very appreciated.
Best Regards,
Jason

I have a 1990 240SX with 120K miles, all original engine, injectors, MAFS, everything, that has sat for 2 years+. Put a battery on it, and it still starts, even with the same old gas in it.
I have a 1991 Celica GT with 136K on it. Original everything. Sat for 2+ years. Starts fine with a good battery.
I have a 1990 240sx with an SR20DET. It sits for months at a time. It's been driven 3,000 miles in 8 years since I built it. It still starts first crank every time with a hot battery.
Etc., Etc..
My point is that a dirty throttle body or dirty injectors or even old gas or a dirty air filter or MAFS or such stuff are all highly unlikely to cause a condition where it cranks but won't even try to fire. Look elsewhere.

It's either a bad sensor or maybe low fuel pressure. Cleaner probably won't help but it won't hurt either. My cam sensor acted up a few times before I ever got a CEL. Once I was just driving down the road and it just died on me and took a long time to start again. No code was thrown.
You might check your spark plugs too, but that's an unlikely culprit at 46k, since they're designed to go 100k from the factory.

Update, Fixed
Just wanted to update this for the benefit of others who are trying to troubleshoot this problem.
Replaced both camshaft position sensors. Fixed. Thank god.
I had already done the testing procedures per the service manual for the cam sensors as well as a dozen other things, and they tested to specs, but I guess something about the engine getting warmed up and they don't work right anymore.
Advance Auto Parts carries the sensors from Borg Warner for about $60 each, and if you pay online for in-store pickup you can use promo code to drop another 30% off price.
Total cost $99 after tax. versus who knows how much dealership would have bent me over for.
Hope this helps someone, and thanks for all the suggestions.
