^ Just call Tony @ MotorDyne on Monday/Tuesday and hear it straight form the horse's mouf

I went with the isothermal spacer to reduce any chances of heat soak IIRC - was a long time ago. The price differences between the models were negligible to me & 5/16" spacer was a better choice than the 1/2" spacer due to the more usable everyday power over the RPM-range.

Have you looked at the descriptions on MotorDyne's website?

^ Pretty sure you don't need the copper part of the spacer in AZ/warm weather area, but not sure if a basic spacer is better than a isothermal spacer for you or whether or not to use the valve or whatever else.

Not to doubt some of the experts on Driver, but I'd rather hear reasoning straight from the man who designs and makes the spacer himself instead of from some of these Driver chuckleheads

Tony's a good guy, easy to talk to, and it's pretty fascinating to hear him explain some of the science behind his products.

^ Yep, every time I've called he's picked up. It's just him & his wife that run the business IIRC.

I'm pretty sure you'll get an answer from him faster from calling rather than from PM, by why not just PM him now (SN: Hydrazine) now with a link to this thread and if he doesn't respond by Monday/Tuesday just call him? I say Tuesday because I believe Monday is a holiday for most everyone.

warm climate just needs the aluminum one, I'd need the copper up in Wisco. Gonna be buying mine in the next few weeks.

Unless there is visible moisture the TB can't freeze up. Visible moisture could be rain, fog or snow. The only time I open my CCV is when I'm changing the coolant. If I ever feel a power loss that might be caused by the TB freezing up, I can always pull over and open the CCV.

- No need for the copper kit in AZ

- Basic spacer will be fine but Iso-Thermal would be better because of the lower gasket

- No you don't "need" to run the coolant control valve but it would benefit you in the heat, not cold

Living in a warm area like Arizona you're better off with the copper gasket ISO to keep your manifold as cool as possible. I have the bypass hose also but have never turned it on due to CA. weather. Our VQ motors love cool weather! The only downfall with the 1/2" spacer is that you can't use your engine cover, it no longer fits....Gary

way too many people confuse the copper kit w/the iso-thermal, they're not the same. the copper kit is something connected to your throttle body to keep it from freezing. the iso-thermal kit is a gasket that goes under the LOWER plenum and a coolant control valve that stops warm coolant from circulating to your rear cylinders.
