VQ37VHR Headers Installed

Over the weekend I installed VHR headers on my G35 sedan. The VHR headers are just like the VQ35HR headers but the VHR has an extra heat shield around the collector.

Notes:
-Steering rod does have to be removed.
-Passenger side coolant hose does have to be removed
-middle two header studs have to be swapped
-Spray everything (multiple times) with PB blaster\Nut Buster and let sit
-Easiest way to extract the exhaust stud is to place ratcheting wrench on stud, then place nut on backwards, place another nut on so the two flat sides lock to each other. Use a reverse torx E8 socket and ratchet on the stud. Turn wrench and ratchet at the same time.
-HR HFC (Kinetix) have larger openings than DE HFC (Kinetix).

Results:
No dyno. Exhaust is slightly louder, more raspy\husky like all VHR cars sound, car has more mid range and top end power. I would say the gains are similar to the gains you get from HFC.

Why:
-CHEAP, used VHR and HR headers can be found for cheap $100-$200
-OEM quality and fitment
-heat shields! no need for header wrap and high under hood temps

Awesome man. I would totally do this but I would have to change out my ART pipes just to make this fit the HR headers.

I also have VHR headers from a 07 HR 350z to my 06 Coupe 6MT.
There is def. power increase, but I would say about 1/3 or 1/4 of 5/16 spacers + Mrev 2.

My exhaust note did get louder but it actually did introduce a very small amount of rasp at 1-2k rpm.
Not sure if I need an aftermarket exhaust or just a tune (Since my car was original tuned for Nismo Exhaust).

the only down side with doing this for me is that if I got this done. I would have to change out my ART pipes for the HR version. With that being said, since I have a AT, I dont know how the fitment is on the HR ART pipes on the automatic g35 =\
