Can Throttle Bodies be Rebuilt?

Both I and my auto mechanic I have gone through hard learning curve process of cleaning throttle bodies.

I had mention to him about a slight hesitation I was having at about 1000 rpm’s. His first response to me was to clean the throttle body, which was done, manually with a rag.

However, the idle relearn could not be reset. I took it to the dealership and then were not able to reset them either. They also informed me that you are not supposed to manually clean the throttle bodies. They gave me a quote of $1848.00 to replace the throttle bodies and reset the idle.

I bought the two throttle bodies off eBay, they were brand new OEM’s, cost was $420.00. My mechanic put them on, did a idle relearn and pedal relearn at no cost.

Took the car back to Infiniti and they fixed my original problem of the hesitation at 1000 rpm’s by a software update for the ECM.

So my question is I have two throttle bodies that have been manually cleaned, can they be rebuilt or are they trash?

If they can be rebuilt who would or could do it?

This was done on a 2007 Infiniti G35 sedan Journey.

Cleaning a TB shouldn't kill it. I have taken mine completely apart, put it back together and the car cranked right up.

It is only a motor and pot...nothing special.

I am very much aware of many people cleaning their own throttle bodies and not having any problems. It seems there is a lot of apple and oranges conparisons between different years and some with single throttle bodies and some with dual throttle bodies like mine.

However, this does not address my underlining question. Is there any value in the two throttle bodies that I now have?
