Test pipe question
Hey all, just a question about the sound of resonated vs non-resonated pipes. How much louder are the non-res? I know, may be a silly and subjective question, but just looking for ideas. I have a fast intentions exhaust with the round stainless mufflers and initially had hfc's. now I just swapped those out for topspeed resonated test pipes. I would say its noticeable louder but not as loud as I was expecting. Would a standard test pipe be a night and day difference? Or maybe just a little louder?

Bump- also I'll elaborate more as to the reason I'm asking. The resonated ones I have rattle against the heat shields. So that's why I'm considering the regular test pipes. I wouldn't mind if its a little louder than what I have, but I don't want it insanely loud. I guess my other option is to remove the heat shields maybe?
If you're only getting rid of them (or considering it) because of heat shield rattle I'd say remove the heat shield and wrap them instead. Heat wrap is going to far more effective anyway. I haven't used test pipes so I have no first hand experience, just seems like a waste of money and labor for a pretty quick fix.
I have had hfc, res TP, and non res TP.... you will notice the sound to be louder, but if you don't like rasp. I wouldn't do it.... also consider maybe a plenum spacer. I have a 1/2" on a mrev2 and it is definately deeper and louder.... I'm going to finish off with headers soon.... although its not worth it on HP VS $$$$. But I also want the last bit of sound from it...

Thanks, I can say that I need to do something about the rattle whether its regular tp's or remove heat shields. I'm on the fence about the sound of the tp's. clips seem to sound good, but in person it can be way different. I
