Arrow Paint stock muffler?

I have some peeling paint on my muffler, and i'm trying to decide what to do about it. Do you think I should sand off the peeling paint and have a "metal" look to it, or should I get some high-temp exhaust paint and repaint it? Or should I do something else?

Paint it, IMO why would you want a stock muffler more noticeable? I would much rather just have more contrast for the tips.

Sand all you can and then shoot it with some 1200 degree High Heat paint. (PepBoys) Keeping it looking perfect, you may need to do this once a year....good job for a Saturday morning.

Can you post a pic of your car from farther back, showing what it looks like on the car as a whole?

If you got the time, sand it & polish it.

I don't really want to spend tons of time polishing up a stock muffler. I think it would either be like neo_anderson's (sanded or sanded and painted gray) or sanded/roughed up and painted black to "hide" it. I doubt a polished stock muffler would look great.

Well I have a can of 2000 degree spray paint en route to me now. I'm thinking i'll just take the muffler off the car, rough up the surface shown in the picture, and just paint that part. I don't know if there's any point in painting the entire thing, do you?

Removed the muffler, roughed up the surface with some sandpaper, cleaned the surface with glass cleaner, masked it off and painted. What do you think?

Yes, my exhaust tips need attention. That's for another day

You should just paint the whole muffler or at least the bottom portion for protection reasons (rust). Second the paint that you used doesn't look that good, black or silver would have been better. Your paint job makes you muffler look worn out.

Maybe the pictures don't do it justice, but it's exactly the same color as it was before: flat black. So as you mentioned, black is better

I'm not worried about rust on the underside of my muffler...after 7 years, 108k miles and 4 seasons, if it looks fine now I imagine it will be fine for a while longer.
