06 Coupe muffler install on an 05 problems (pics)

Rather than spending any more time underneath my car trying to install this muffler, what am I doing wrong? Why does the the activated charcoal filter evaporator seem to get in the way? I don't want to sound cliche but I've done a bit of searching and am coming up dry which means I'm doing something very bone-headed. Feel free to enlighten me!





I also noticed that on the driver's side it's held on by a zip-tie...I'm not expert but that doesn't look right to me.

Canister is in the wrong spot, it's supposed to be right behind the passenger side wheel under the rear bumper.

Here's the best picture I can find of mine, the canister is tucked away on the right side of the image:

If that one doesn't fit in the stock location, maybe it was a replacement from a different model Nissan.
