Blox 5/16th Spacer- BXIM-40201
Thought I'd give you guys a quick heads up on the Blox Plenum Spacer I bought. I know Blox makes a lot of ricer ebay stuff, but it's just a plastic gasket so I assumed it would be difficult to screw up.
Fitment of the spacer itself was a bit off, it was difficult to get some of the bolts lined up but overall it was manageable. The spacers for the middle bolts required silicone so they didn't fall off the bolt when you put the plenum back on. This may be how all the spacers are, I just felt like this was cheap and lazy engineering (as it'd be pretty easy to make a spacer that fit snug to the bolts, but again it was manageable).
The major issue is that the bolts are all way too long. Most of the bolts around the edge of the plenum pass all the way through so it was just an eyesore not an actual problem. However, the bolts in the middle all bottomed out before they were anywhere close to be being tight. One of the bolts in the front of the plenum hit a solid coolant line.
I was able to move bolts around, reuse stock bolts, and cut some of the provided bolts in order to get the spacer installed but it's blatantly obvious that no one at Blox ever bothered to actually install one of these on a car, much less put any thought into what bolts they would provide with it.
Overall it's still considerably cheaper than anyone else's plastic gasket. It's just a really poorly reverse engineered product. Hopefully it holds up to the heat and turns out to be a decent purchase. If you do buy one, at least now you'll know what to expect before you start.
