Looking for Exhaust System / ebay?

Hey guys,
I've spent the past hour searching the forums as well as on the internet and although I have a much better understanding of options I'm not really able to find the specific info I need (also a lot of the threads I found are years old and may no longer be relevant)

So I have a 07 G35 coupe, complete stock exhaust. I know it's nearly impossible to explain the type of sound you are after but put it this way, I dont want to be that obnoxious neighbor waking everyone up as I pull in. I drive my son to school everyday as well so if possible it would be great to have something that isnt overly loud in lower gears/rpms/speed however at the same time when Im driving solo would love to be able to let it rip and get some good noise. Anything on ebay any good? Saw 1 borla but a lot of generic looking 300-400 systems. I want to do this right and do not mind spending a little extra. No idea if the ebay systems are any good or not? Couldnt find many reviews.

Not sure if that is enough info but if anyone has any recommendations I would appreciate it. I've messaged a couple vendors as well so will wait to see what they say.

I'm a complete n00b with exhaust systems though so again any info you guys can give me will be much appreciated. As always, thank you for all the support and info you guys have given me over the years. Can't wait for summer to get the G back out on the roads!

Cheap exhaust systems will sound raspy (think cheap honda fart can at redline) and usually have drone (cabin frequency that ****s with your ears and sounds like a loud humming sound).

It's practically impossible to make a cheap exhaust sound good. My advise is to pick up a used system from someone if you're going the budget route, a quality exhaust system is tuned to eliminate rasp and drone and ALSO sound really good. That's why the price tag is significantly higher than a cheap system.

Look for a Nismo exhaust, they keep the distinctive coupe sound but amplified in a tasteful manner. It's also one of the quieter systems out there but will make noise if you get on it. I don't believe they make them new any more so used would be your only option. Another good choice for you that you can buy new is the Invidia Gemini: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Invidia-Gem...!US!-1&vxp=mtr A lot of positive comments from Invidia owners on here.

As Cleric said run far, very far away from the cheap eBay crap. You'll hate yourself for years if you buy one of them.

Make sure you check your vehicle for Rear Active Steering before purchasing an exhaust system. During the dash indicator light check before you start the vehicle you will have one that says RAS, you will also have something that looks sort of like a power steering rack behind the rear differential. Not all systems are RAS compatible and the ones that are usually proudly display this in their description.

EDIT: RAS is not AWD

If you have a shop in your area that specializes in true performance (mandrel bent) exhaust systems, that might be your best bet because they can set up the exhaust to be more free flowing but with resonators and mufflers that won't be overly loud.

If you want an exhaust have a budget and don't want to wait goodness knows how long until your preferred used exhaust goes up...

you can get the cheapest possible HKS replica exhaust on ebay for 250, have a muffler shop replace the resonators with a Magnaflow 11386 muffled reasonated x pipe (110). you'll get a full stainless true dual exhaust with no drone when cruising (you can hear it going up hills or at 75 mph but it's not annoying or buzzy). It makes a nice smooth noise when accelerating, quiet below 3k but people can tell you have modified exhaust above that.
On the highway in 6th it's downright quiet from 65 all the way past 90, with the one exception of some minor resonance at 74 to 76 mph.
This is what WOT sounds like with this exhaust on my car (this is not my car or video)

A muffler shop with brand name components and nice pipe should run around 500 but you won't know what it sounds like until you start it up.

Keep in mind the HKS rep is not RAS compatible.

My best advice, there was an authentic HKS system for sale on our Marketplace under private classified and it looked almost new! You'll never find a system that sounds or looks better than HKS for the $$!
