I'm glad I asked all this time I thought the H pipe was better than the Y or X pipe. I have to do more research on this before I commit on getting one. Choosing an exhaust for this car a little more complicated than I thought.

True dual exaust

I live in Miami. A friend of mine and I both have Coupes. We recently found out that our favorite shop was closing and decided to purchase most of the bolt-ons for our cars before the shop bit the dust. His set up includes the Borla True Dual Exhaust system. To my dismay I wasn't able to order one because he happened to order the last one in Florida. Everythingg35 was on back order and I seemed to have no choice but to suck it up and wait. I ended up going to a custom muffler shop and having my Crawford high-flows installed and a custom exhaust manufactured. I told the guy at the shop to make me something as close as possible. So he put my friend’s car on a lift and reproduced his exhaust. I am extremely happy with the results. It consists of 2.5'' piping from the cats back, with an X-Pipe, Two stainless steel Magnaflow resonators, a Magnaflow muffler and huge stainless steel tips (larger/meaner than Borla) at the end. It seems to be the better version of the True dual with bigger diameter piping and a deeper throatier sound. Any one else who might be confused as to which exhaust to buy. I suggest going custom. You might be VERY pleasantly surprised.

So you have CC, Magna resonators, X pipe and a custom exhaust replica of of Borla. How much was the custom exhaust? Was it a big difference in performance? How is the low end compared to the original setup?

Will an "X" pipe fit on the stock exhaust, and where can I get one?

you have a y-pipe on the stock exhaust.........an x-pipe is of no use.

A H-Pipe & X-pipe would be for a dual exhast system to better balance the exhaust flow. IMO - the H-Pipe has really worked on my Injen SES regarding better sound and performance.

Yeah, the exhaust was 700 dollars installed. In terms of performance, I can't really give you any accurate numbers. The exaust was installed with an intake.. plenum and highflows all at the same time. I can tell you that i definatly felt an improvement . Low end power is awesome, but i suspect that has to do with the plenum/intake combo combined with the exhaust. My friend has the borla.. only the dyno will tell. Ill post when we dyno.

I went to the same custom exhaust shop as mechanol. Miami Muffler is the name. They also have a internet sales department named www.vrsexhaust.com

They performed a custom dual exjhaust for my '05 sedan. I had previously installed their test pipes, but I had a bit of resonance.
When I went back to Miami Muffler, I had them install....5 mufflers!!! Yes, that is correct. The system consists of all magnaflwo stainless mufflers, 2'5" mandrel bent tubing, and some very attractive 3" round, slant cut tips.

It goes something like this.....after the test pipes:

tubing flows into a 2in-2 out "X" design magnaflow muffler. That part is below the tranny. After that, it goes into separate, 4" (OD) magnalfow resonator/mufflers. After those mufflers, the tubing snakes around the differential, and curves to the rear driver's of the car, where there are 2 polshied stainless magnaflows welded together into a "V" shape. This was done to be able to 2 separate muffler semi-vertically in the area previously occupied by the stock muffler. Finally, the tips were TIG-welded onto the mufflers. I had them slightly offset the tips, so that the right ip would protrude a bit more than the left tip. This follows the curve of the bumper.

They also tucked the tips up very closely to the bumper (my request). Overall, it is a very stock looking appearance, but with larger tips.

The sound is awesome!!!! No raspiness at all!! Very powerful sounding. Mechanol and his buddy heard it when it was finished. Maybe they can coroborate my story. I have another thing in the works to make it super-stealthy quiet (when I need it to be) or loud and powerful (when I want that, too.)

I'll post pics soon. Unfortunatley, they are crappy camera phone pics.
