K&N Air Intake System

In an earlier post, someone had their "G" dynoed at K&N Engineering as part of K&N's Product Development. How was the car set up? Stock? K&N panel replacement filter? Has anyone checked with K&N to see if their going to build a CAI System for the "G"?

Re: K&N Air Intake System

K&N used my car. THey are using it again this week because my car produced more HP than the other cars tested.

I will keep you all informed about the availability of the production kit....

Frank,

What was the HP of your car vs the others?
What do you attribute the difference to?

Re: K&N Air Intake System

I had about 12 bhp increase with the intake. The additional testing will be this week....

This was a test of an intake kit, not just an air filter.....

Blue cars are faster.......

12hp? At the flywheel i suppose. 12hp is a huge gain, maybe 1-2hp gain at the wheels.

Re: K&N Air Intake System

Do we really think that Infiniti left 12 hp on the cutting room floor...from modifying the air inlet?

My experience has been that intake mods that add hp in one area of the rpm range take it away from somewhere else. What we really need is an electric fan conversion. Mine goes whirly whirly on hot days and really sucks the power.

Re: K&N Air Intake System

Just in case you didn't see what I posted the first time, I said 12 BHP, thats brake horsepower. Otherwise known as at the wheels.........

If it didn't happen, I wouldn't have posted it......

Re: K&N Air Intake System

The guy at Blitz said it was a 3.5-5 HP gain at the top end. There's torque loss too at low end.

That's great news, but lets see the dyno sheet.

Re: K&N Air Intake System

12hp?, thats very hard to belive, especialy since the stock intake flows well(compared to most cars) I also have a 1994 talon tsi fwd, and only got 8hp off an intake, and this car has a really restrictive stock stock intake. Most N/A v6 will gain around 5-hp

not saying your making up stories, but the test must have been messed.
