Straight Pipes vs. High Flow Cats

Can someone tell me the pro's and con's of each? Which will produce more power? Deeper sound? Thanks

Test pipes will flow better and make more hp up top . They will produce rasp in the exhaust . The RT cats will flow the best out of all the others and also have rasp . The other cats dont flow as well and dont have the rasp

I have Crawford cats and they work great. The RT cats have a history of collapsing.

With the test pipes, you will likely lose a little power on the bottom end and gain it back on the top.

Ive had the Crawfords on for a while now . Had the RT's on and they did collapse on me . Going back to pipes for more flow . I guess I'll have to put up with the rasp for more power

I bet the pipes sound nice. I'd do it too, but don't want to have to take them on and off for inspection.

Does anyone have sound clips for testpipes with stock heads and exhaust?

After doing some research, I am going with Labree resonated test pipes. Pricey, similar price to Crawford cats, but I think they are worth it. They have positive reviews and many have no rasp with them. Since I am going FI, I think it would be a better choice. I am probably going to do the install myself, so that I can learn how to do it, since I will have to swap them out with the oem cats for smog later.

If I install Crawford Cats onto my coupe, is there a potential that the car won't pass CA smog or other inspection?

I think it should pass. You have cats. I am talking about removing the cats completely.

With the straight pipe, are you are keeping the stock exhaust right?

Yes, you keep your stock exhaust (exhaust, mid-pipe, y-pipe).
