Nismo question

I am planning on installing nismo headers, high flow cats, and exhaust system on my 05at coupe. I am wondering would this be a good setup? I am definitely going with the nismo exhaust system but not sure on the headers and cats. What kind of hp/tq gains could i expect to see? and will it give the exhaust system a different sound with the headers and cats installed also than it would if i only had the exhaust system on? Any feedback would be great.

couple of things...

if you're willing to spend the $1200 on Nismo headers, you should check out the Crawfords, which are similarly priced and better designed IMO. i have TopSpeed headers, which are a copy of the Nismo design, and i like them alot, but if i had to do it again i would get Crawford. if you're set on the Nismo design, check out DC Sports, Alphawerks, Strup, TopSpeed/Pro1... all are the same design as nismo, same stainless steel, and at a fraction of the cost.

since you said Nismo everything, i'm assuming you mean Nismo high flow cats too. those things cost like $1400. hundreds of members of Driver and My350z have used Crawford Cats (myself included) and love them, and they're only $500.

finally the exhaust. the Nismo exhaust for the G35 is not really available in the US. most places just sell the 350z version with an extension pipe attached to the midpipe. this allows the exhaust to bolt up and hang fine, but the tips do not line up with the rear bumper (they are about 2-3" too short and end up hiding under the bumper). this will not hurt performance but doesn't look the best. now, if you get the JDM Nismo exhaust, it fits all around (including the tips) but costs like $2100 and takes months to get.

a good alternative is the Fujitsubo exhaust. Fujitsubo actually manufactures the Nismo exhaust (almost everything Nismo makes for this car is rebadged from other manufacturers, like the AEM intake). the Fuji exhaust sounds just like the Nismo and performs the same as well, and fits perfect. you can get them for around $875 for the exhaust and $480 for the matching Y-pipe (the Nismo system is a package of both)... which comes to around $1500.

you can hear sound clips of my setup here (TopSpeed headers [Nismo copy], Crawford cats, and Fujitsubo Y-pipe and Exhaust)
