Z-Tube/K&n or Z-Tube/PopCharger?

So, looking at the Z-Tube and the K&N Filter combo, it looks like my best route. But, then I came across a pop charger which is claimed to be better. But, the installation for the Popcharger looks diffiicult when it comes down to assembling the heat-shield. Also, it seems that the popcharger requires some oil and needs to be re-applied every so often. Is the K&N filter this complicated?

In terms of ease-of-installation(this will be my first ever engine mod), which is easier?

In terms of performance, although this may be a dead give-away, which is better?

And finally, in terms of moneyerformance, which is the best choice?

Thanks

my 2cents - in terms of cost and performance, just get the z-tube, k&n filter and pop off the 'power duct' on the stock air box. Easy as pie and you'll be very pleased/.....just as good, if not better, than a popcharger.

any type of non-throw-away-filter (e.g., k&n) requires re-oiling every so often (i do it once a year)..........as long as you've managed to figure out how to masterbate, you can figure how to reoil it easily enough.

Ive had the G-tube (same as z-tube, just in chrome) and the K&N for a little bit. I love the K&N filter, it was great. Adds a really nice sound to the engine, especially in the upper RPMs at WOT. Also, when revving from idle you hear a nice "TSSS" noise from the intake. I took out my K&N and bought the Amsoil nanofiber filter just because I did not want to re-oil my K&N filter, the Amsoil only requires a vacuum cleaning, and much less often than the K&N. As far as sound goes, I believe the K&N was a little louder. Performance is negligable.
Here is a sound clip of my car revving with the Gtube and K&N installed: http://www.f-trans.net/pub/ludafifty...r%20audio.aiff

I have the K&N for sale with about 500 miles on it. PM me if your interested in it.

So Z-Tube and K&N it is then. I heard someone mention something about the AC line and it being easy to break? Or is this false?

With the Z tube/K&N combo, you should not encounter any AC lines issues. I believe that a few members, whom were installing brand named CAI's, were experiencing a bit of rubbing with the AC line. However, the Z tube should not present this issue. Enjoy!

Im in this same boat! I dont know if I want to get the popcharger or another filter. Everybody has something different and always thinks theirs is the best. It makes it so damn hard.

Have fun installing your new mod. If you don't have it already, here is a good link for the Z tube install.
