MREV Installed

Okay I just finished installing the MREV+ with copper isothermal. Anyways, everything went well until we were installing the copper iso and the throttle body. Problem was we are missing longer bolts to install the copper iso and the throttle body(Did my kit just have bolts missing, I have to run to a bolt shop tomorrow morning and grab 4 new bolts to finish the install, kinda pissed me off a bit)

One other thing my brother did for me was port match the lower plenum(MREV) to the intake and gasket. If you look really closely before you install your new lower plenum the intake holes match up fairly well with the gasket, but the lower plenum could use a bit of work. When you check you will see what I mean. Anyways, we removed a bit of material and now the holes match much better!! Probably isn't worth much, but we figured we might as well match everything up as best we can.

Can't comment on power gains since I cannot install the throttle body till tomorrow when I get new bolts. Let me know if any of you were missing bolts maybe I am missing something.

Longer or new bolts arent needed for the TB. You should be able to use the stock ones easily.

Hmmm . . . As Tony states, the existing 4 allen bolts should work just fine. Nonetheless, good luck with the copper TB heating plate install and have a great MREV Plus post install experience. You're in for a treat.

There are only 2-3 threads visible without even installing the last gasket. Here are some pictures of what I mean. I wouldn't trust 2 threads to hold the throttle body on. You almost need bolts as long as the four bolts you supply to hold the upper plenum down.

Mine worked out fine man, i remember when I installed it that the bolts seemed sort of short, but when you get it on there and tighten it, its really tightens up a lot.

Hmmm . . . I may have to take my set-up apart and examine the length of the bolts in that fashion. Everything appeared and felt proper. However, you do have a good point there.

Ever wonder why a nut is only so thick???? There comes a point when you max a max. force of holding power, to put it in common terms. You'll be fine with the amount of threads you have, but if you feel better by buying longer ones........ do it. It's your piece of mind. My $.02

Hi Rylan,

Yes, you are right. They do look short. I don't know why, but I have noticed that Nissan will sometimes use slightly different parts in their production. Bolts diameters, hose lengths/diameters, harness lengths, brackets, machining processes, gaskets, torq ratings and other various things. Its not always exactly the same every time.
It looks like your bolts are about 5mm shorter than what I usually see.

We just went and bought longer bolts to snug up the throttle body then installed the original bolts with lock washer. Without the longer bolts it may have been tough to get in, but who knows. It all worked out in the end.

Now about the power, I haven't driven my car in over 3 months so I kinda forgot how it felt. However, I did a nice little 1-2 powershift off a stop light and the tires did spin a bit more. Now the butt dyno meter to me is really tough to judge a 15-20rwhp/rwtq increase in my books. In my honest opinion you won't feel anything under 40rwhp/40rwtq. It does seem like a worth while mod though, car does feel better.

Just remember that my car is the slowest at our house!!! So if I don't notice a huge difference don't take that too literally.

Rylan

P.S. Tony did you get the email from me?

LOL....you can't feel the difference???

I let people drive my G everytime they even question MREV. EVERY response is HOLY SH-T, there is a huge difference. Like you said though, you haven't driven your car in 3 months, you just did not get a fair comparison. Happy MREVing!!

I know that is why I stated that above. I even took my brother for a ride with me(he has an 04 cobra 415rwhp, he is adding a pulley this spring) and he was having trouble really noticing a huge difference, but in all honesty three months of zero seat time I was bound to forget. It did spin and break free far more then before when I powershifted 1-2, so it does have more power for sure. I am running BFG G-force kdw 275/30/19's out back. When I first installed these tires I couldn't even spin them over unless I really tried, so the mod does work. Looking forward to some new stuff from Motordyne in the future, just make a PCV intake tube(that we can paint to match car color), no metal crap that holds heat in.

I do recommend this mod!

Thermal will always be factored into anything Motordyne designs.

Iso Thermal PCV/intake is right around the corner too!
